12 Million Dog March Los Angeles — A Huge Success!

Our first 12 Million Dog March and festival took place at Pan Pacific Park in Los Angeles on August 5th — and was an incredible success. Over 1200 people attended the event, many with their beloved dogs. Thousands of new members from all over the country joined the RiedelCody.org community and the Virtual March at 12MillionDogMarch.com, plus our Facebook pages, to share stories and show their support. And, we had over 12 thousand page views per day ramping up to the LA event — from pet lovers everywhere participating online.

We were extremely touched that Robin Zander, lead singer of the band Cheap Trick, donated his time to talk up the event on the band’s summer tour with Aerosmith. And, that he and his band mates performed at a free concert during the live event.

We were further amazed by the support of Los Angeles celebrities, actors and soap opera stars, including: Sharon Lawrence, Eden Riegel, Chrishell Sause, Alicia Minshew, Danielle Parker and Melissa Claire Egan — who talked up the event to friends and fans — and attended with their pampered pooches.

It was a fun-filled day full of family-friendly activities with festivities including: a souvenir pawprint project, a photo booth for people and pets, treat tastings from Blue Buffalo, a caricature artist for dogs, games for dogs, a bouncer for kids, and kids pet-themed arts and crafts. We had an education center with a general practice vet and vet oncologist, and expert dog trainer-led clinics. Pup-menities included a Petco relief station featuring water and snacks, pooper scoopers and bags, and a Mutt Mingle and Lounge for people and their pets. Plus live entertainment, dog-themed music and a human/hound look-alike contest with prizes.

We have a long list of thanks to everyone who supported this event, near and far, from our partners at Blue Buffalo and our sponsor Petco — to our tireless volunteers — and everyone who joined our online community and shared their stories to help us spread the word.

We also want to thank our LA exhibitors: Life of Ryley, I Said Sit, VDI, Veterinary Cancer Group, Dog Sniffer, Wooflinks, Izze beverages, Nature's Pet Cuisine, Jill G, Pooch Hotel, Stymie Canine Cancer Fund and Fifi & Romeo who sponsored the Mutt & Mingle Lounge area. And, our in-kind donors: Nestle Waters, Corner Bakery Café, Coastal Pet Products, The Grill, Kong, Dr. Nates Natural Lip Therapy, Bank of America, Bio-Groom, Bissell Home, Kombucha Beverages and Soy Joy. And, our service donors: Melissa Bacelar, What About Daisy, Maryam Faresh, Terese Rhyne and Tatyana.
