Relaxing while Mommy and Daddy watch TV

Tango (Maltese) and Gretchen (Dachshund) sleeping on the sectional as we were watching TV the other night.
Tango has been feeling good and really at this point back to his old self. He is really happy that the rain has stopped, does not like going out and getting wet, and the grass has dried in the sun so he can run around the yard.

In Memory of Our Beloved Friend Ben

I’m so sad to share that we lost our dear and handsome man Ben on Tuesday. During his 14 years, he bravely battled cancer twice as well as an amputation. Ben became an angel this week, surrounded by his loving family who worked so hard to give him a fighting chance. He and his family inspired us with their courage and determination. If love could have saved you Ben, you would have lived forever. We will miss you.

Progress!

I am happy to report that Molly has significantly improved since my last post. These past few weeks have been very frustrating as the side effects of the radiation began to take shape. First it was the blistering of her skin. Then the pads of her paw started to fall off. She was walking on three legs for a little over a week. This made going to the bathroom challenging for her, but she adapted within a few days.

Walkies, walkies, and more walkies

[The picture is Naz at Gwen's breakfast party this morning: her daughter Kiara (sp?) dressed Naz up in her own dress-up stuff. Shows you what a good-natured little guy he is to put up with stuff like this!]

Staying in the moment

We have been celebrating though the disease is obviously still there and progresses because of its type BUT...over a year ago the first docs said you may have weeks, a few good months at best" I, of course, looked into Johan's eyes and said, " I do not believe it is our time...I will fight for you, care for you as I always have and give you every ounce of me I have if you will fight for me your mom too!

It looks like I did the wrong thing . . .

I just discovered that there *is* a urine test for TCC: http://hoecad.com/rennie.html#diag

The Piddler and the PeeKeeper

Well, the PeeKeeper arrived, and it looks like I bought the right size. Unfortunately the thing prevents Naz from pooping as well, so I have to take it off to let him Out. He has decidedly voted against it, however. He's made that quite clear. I first tried it out on him outside, and he started making pooping motions! Of course I whisked the thing off of him, and he showed no further inclination to relieve himself in that fashion.

Caught up!

Well, it looks like I may have missed an email or two in the process, but now the blog's caught up with Naz's story. I'll be updating live from now on.

Thank you for your patience!

The really bad news . . . (5/9/12)

Well, Naz's stitches are out. Here's the lowdown on further treatment.

Do nothing. Cost: Nothing. Average time of recurrence: 6 months (very likely in Naz's case, since there was more than one tumor in his bladder already)

The Continuing Saga of the Piddler on the Futon . . . (5/8/12)

I had to change blankets and towels four times during the night last night. Gah.

And I discovered after I wrote yesterday that he *had* had another episode on the carpet.

I begin to feel that the PeeKeeper will never arrive. . . .
